Read a report of seminars held in Machakos and Homa Hills in October 2009

From Lake Turkana and Mandera in the north to Mombasa in the south, and from Rusinga Island in the west to Kitui or Malindi in the east, the good news of Natural Medicine as described by anamed is being practiced and promoted by individuals and communities.

  • Bed-ridden AIDS patients are becoming heathy and strong, and are able to take care of their families once again, and even to work. Many celebrate their wonderful recovery by convening self-help groups and teaching others about artemisia tea and moringa leaf powder.
  • Families, communities, churches and health centres are establishing gardens of medicinal plants.
  • Malaria patients are being healed.
  • Diarrhoea in children and adults is now seldom life threatening.
  • Some people even manage to support themselves and their families on the proceeds of the medicinal plants and the medicines that they produce.

The picture shows participants
in the 2007 Nairobi seminar pouring
artemisia ointment into containers.

Some of the most active people in Kenya, who are enabling people in their local communities to become more healthy with natural foods and medicines, are:

  • Major Rebecca Nzuki of the Salvation Army in Kibera slum, Machakos District and the Coast,
  • Dr Roger Sharland, Rosalia Oyweka and other members of “REAP”, especially in and around Kisumu - see http://reap-eastafrica.org/reap/.
  • Tamima Omondi in South Nyanza.

For one example of this outreach, see the report of Beldine Awino Ajwang.

Some people who are willing to give help and advice on Natural Medicine, and who wish to establish a network of Natural Medicine practitioners in their District.
