anamed has been active in Uganda for over ten years. As a result, many people, projects and health centres are:

  • growing a large number and variety of medicinal plants in their medicinal gardens, including Artemisia annua which is used primarily to treat malaria and to strengthen the immune system of AIDS patients.
  • making teas, ointments, oils, tinctures and black stones.
  • enjoying improved nutrition through drinking water, herbal teas and fruit juices and knowing what are the most nutritional foods to grow and eat.
  • treating malaria, diarrhoea, asthma, haemorrhoids, skin problems and many other complaints. In addition the lives of HIV/AIDS patients are being dramatically improved with the use of artemisia tea and either moringa leaf powder or grain amaranth.
  • involving and teaching the local community about all aspects of Natural Medicine.

There are also an increasing number of health centres and hospitals that use anamed’s medicinal preparations. Traditional healers too are working openly and using the anamed’s preparations. As a result of developing trust through anamed seminars, there are ever more situations in which health centres and healers are working together.

Today there is a network of anamed practitioners across Uganda, from Kei in the extreme north-west, through to Rakai in the extreme south-west, and from Luwero in the south to Mbale in the east and Kotido and Gulu in the north.

Thus we are very happy to say that many thousands of people in Uganda are benefiting from Natural Medicine as taught by anamed.

Would you like to learn more about Natural Medicine in your district?

For most people their work with Natural Medicine began after attending an anamed training seminar. anamed international has held week-long seminars in Arua, Kasese, Kei, Kisubi, Masaka, Mbale, Soroti and Usuk. However many Ugandans are now regularly involved in conducting training themselves. The word is spreading rapidly.

If you would like to be in touch with people in your district who are already practising Natural Medicine, then please contact one of the people in the list below. You may even like to ask for help in organising a training seminar for your organisation. This could be for an afternoon, a full day or even a week.
